We LOVE our new kitchen and mudroom (although I expect we'll appreciate the mudroom even more come the winter). We can hang out at the counter, eat, talk to the cook, and work on our laptops, all while other people are watching a movie. We've even found that it's possible to have conversation at one end of the kitchen while people are watching TV at the other end. I am totally guilty of moving my office from the hot 3rd floor down to the island -- a general outcry arose when I began to spread out everywhere! It's been amazing.
